COVID-19 Update

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Parish Council meetings will not be held in person. Any resident may raise issues with the clerk or Councillors via the links on the website.

Anyone wanting to watch any live Parish Council meeting taking place via Google Meets, should contact the Chair of the Parish Council, Cllr Ian Parr at ianparr.wincham@gmail.com in advance of the meeting.

Wincham Parish Council sponsors this website along with the Wincham Parish Plan Group. The Council comprises of up to 11 sitting Councillors elected to represent the interests of residents.

Unlike Cheshire West and Cheshire Council, the Parish Council does not have a legal duty to deliver services. However, as an elected tier of local government, it has the legal power to take action and a greater freedom to choose what action to take. One of these powers is the ability to raise money through taxation (the precept) and a there are a further range of powers which enable it to spend public money to benefit the community and the local environment.

The Parish Council plays an active part the community and works to improve the facilities and the quality of life within the village.

Parish Council meetings are generally held on the third Wednesday of every month (except August and December) at Wincham Community Centre. A notice will be posted on the village noticeboards in advance of the meetings.

Planning Applications

The Parish Council does not determine planning applications, but can object or comment on any application submitted for land or buildings within Wincham. The Parish Council does not routinely comment on domestic applications, but reserves the right to comment and/or object to any application.

Playing Fields

If anyone has anything to report regarding the playing fields on Linnards Lane or Chapel Street, they should contact the parish clerk at winchampc@talktalk.net or on 0161 926 8645.
